One of the most common questions we get here at the club is “What Radio should I get?”
This is just one of the many questions we get from both new and experienced hams.
The answer is “what are you wanting to do?” Yes that is a question, but it’s the ultimate question/answer to the dilemma with answering the main question.
The answer can only be obtained by the person asking that question, because what I use my radio(s) for might be different than what they will be using it or them for.
Some tell new hams, “Get a Baofeng radio, they are only $35”! Some say, Kenwood, Yeasu, Icom, or TYT.
So as a ham, then next time you get ready to ask the ultimate question, step back and ask yourself, “What are you wanting to do with it?”, or “What am I expecting?”
